- I learnt what fainting is:
- When you sweat a lot and/or are dehydrated, your blood pressure lowers.
- After meals, blood flows more to the digestive system and your blood pressure lowers.
- When blood pressure is low, it is harder for your heart to supply blood to the brain, as a coping mechanism, you lose consciousness & fall down - often known as fainting or syncope
- Lying down helps easier supply of oxygen rich blood to the brain, hence reviving blood supply & maintaining blood pressure
