    1. Positive IOD: west African waters are hotter and Indonesian waters are cooler - brings more rainfall to West Africa, and monsoon showers in India.
      1. Positive IOD can counteract the negative drier monsoon impact of El Nino in India.
    2. Negative IOD: opposite.
    3. Neutral: closer to normal temperatures, and no influence on monsoon.
